Everyone is entitled to a current account

Everyone is entitled to open a bank account into which pay and public sector payments can be transferred. The holder must be able to withdraw money from the account either in person at the bank or with a cash card.

However, you cannot demand to have a Dankort, credit card or overdraft facility attached to the account. It is up to the bank to offer you an automatic payment service linked to your account (BetalingsService via Nets). You are entitled to receive a least one statement of account a year free of charge.

If a bank refuses to set up an account for you, you are entitled to know the objective grounds. If you so request, the bank must set out its reasons in writing.
