Focus on the business sector in the new digital 2020 strategy

12 May 2016

The Danish government, Local Government Denmark (LGDK) and Danish Regions have recently published the new common public digitisation strategy, which lays out the objectives for digitisation in the public sector until 2020. This includes a much needed focus on the business sector and growth potential.
As an interest organisation for banks, the Danish Bankers Association is pleased, as the business sector is a necessary focus point, if society is to benefit from digitisation.
“It is great to see focus on the business sector’s contribution to digitisation. It is important to focus on the advantages of digitisation in the public and private sector, if Denmark wants to continue taking the lead,” says the Deputy Chief Executive at the Danish Bankers Association, Louise Caroline Mogensen.

Last year, the Danish Bankers Association and 24 other trade and interest organisations collaborated on an initiative catalogue for the common public digitisation strategy. A range of these initiatives are reflected in the new strategy. There is emphasis on strengthening cyber security in the public sector, bringing more public data into play, integrating all business-orientated solutions in Virk (a system providing companies with digital access to the public sector) and automatizing company reports to the public sector so that data can be reused and double reporting can be avoided.
The financial sector has been a frontrunner for parts of digital development in Denmark for many years, by creating, amongst other things, potentially the most modern payment infrastructure in the world. This is an infrastructure that makes it possible to develop new forward-looking solutions and products and create growth and jobs.
“For many years banks have led the way by embracing digitisation and they have good experiences of close cooperation with the public sector. We would like to continue contributing to this, as well as the new strategy until 2020. Together we can create the best possible conditions for a digital Denmark,” Louise Caroline Mogensen says.
